TOKYO (September 30th, 2016) QUICK, a leading Japanese provider of value-added, global financial and economic information, has started delivering Glass Lewis’ Proxy Paper research service to Nomura Asset Management, a leading institutional investor in Japan.
Proxy Paper research reports from Glass Lewis, the leading independent provider of global governance services, cover approximately 20,000 listed companies globally (including 2,000 Japanese companies) and offer analysis and voting recommendations on all ballot issues to be considered by shareholders.
The Principles of Responsible Investment (PRI) were established 10 years ago and 2 years have passed since Japan’s Stewardship Code was launched. Under these guidelines, institutional investors are expected to fulfill their responsibilities as responsible investors and clearly explain their voting decisions.
Nomura Asset Management selected Proxy Paper research reports to help make more informed in-house judgements of shareholder proposals after considering recommendations from several proxy advisory firms and evaluating various issues. Mr. Kunio Watanabe, CEO/President at Nomura Asset Management, said “Institutional investors are required to fulfill their stewardship responsibilities more than ever before. We believe that using external services are helpful to make a more appropriate proxy decision. As an institutional investor, we will continue to strive to provide our clients with the best possible investment performance.”
QUICK provides ESG data and advisory services for investors to support their responsible investment strategies. In February 2016, QUICK forged a partnership with Glass Lewis to distribute the company’s proxy related information in Japan. In May, QUICK started marketing the Proxy Paper report service. As a PRI signatory and a CDP partner, QUICK continues to enhance the services it offers as an intermediary between industrial corporations and financial institutions such as pension funds, institutional investors, and securities.
