SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA (2 October 2018) – CGI Glass Lewis, the Australian subsidiary of Glass Lewis, the leading independent provider of global governance and engagement support services, today announced the appointment of Philip Foo as Director of Research.
As Director of Research, Philip will work closely with Daniel J. Smith, General Manager of CGI Glass Lewis, in leading the Sydney-based research team that is currently comprised of 20 analysts and Research Associates.
Prior to joining CGI Glass Lewis, Philip was a forensic accountant in the Disputes and International Arbitration practice at Berkeley Research Group, before which he was with the forensic accounting and audit practices of KPMG. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Victoria University of Wellington, is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and is a CFA Charterholder.
“I am truly thrilled to join CGI Glass Lewis, especially at a time when governance practices are increasingly in the spotlight,” said Philip. “I look forward to working with the rest of the team as we support our clients in the region whose leading commitment to stewardship and responsible investing is driving results in Australia as well as overseas.”
CGI Glass Lewis’ research team leads the global parent’s research effort for Australian, New Zealand, and South African companies, including covering approximately 1,000 meetings annually, while also engaging with more than 200 corporate issuers.
“Philip’s strong financial acumen and extensive experience examining complex accounting structures and their impact on executive remuneration will be a great addition to our team,” said Dan. “In a corporate governance landscape that increasingly requires investors to sift through opaque disclosure to assess how companies are actually performing, we are excited by the new insights his presence can drive to our clients.”
